Caolion Hot and Cool Pore Foam Cleansing Duo
I feel like it has been forever since I’ve done a skincare review. Maybe because my routines for the past few months have stayed fairly constant. There was a phase where I was trying new skincare constantly and I feel like my skin wasn’t getting the stability it needed. So I took a step back and stuck to a handful of products that I knew are gentle on my skin and that work for me. I have had the Caolion Hot and Cool Pore Foam Cleansing Duo in my stash for a while. However, it’s only recently that I’ve started to incorporate it into my skincare routine on a very regular basis. And now that I have, I’ve fallen in love. Keep reading to know why 🙂
Caolion Hot and Cool Pore Foam Cleansing Duo – Concept
So what is this Caolion hot and cool pore foam cleansing duo? Well, the first reason I’ve fallen in love with this product is because of it’s unique concept. It features two cleansers all packaged into one tub. You just have two levels of it if you will. The first level is the steam foam cleanser and the second is the cooling foam cleanser. I cannot emphasize enough how indescribably convenient it is having these two cleansers in one.
Caolion Hot and Cool Pore Foam Cleansing Duo – Packaging
The packaging is pretty good – it is plastic, but definitely sturdy enough and the lids close tight enough that I think you’d be okay traveling with this. Also, if this gets dinged or dropped during your travels, it won’t break. A disadvantage here that many skincare experts will want to point out is the jar packaging. Jar packaging is generally deemed to be the least desirable for skincare because the product can lose its efficacy due to being exposed to the air and environment. Plus, we keep dipping our fingers in to the product, so ensuring that our fingers are squeaky clean is essential. But then again, that’s essential to do at any point before we touch our faces for anything.
Caolion Hot and Cool Pore Foam Cleansing Duo – Price and Availability
I know Caolion used to be available at Sephora in the states at least until last year. Now it isn’t available at Sephora anymore. It is available in Sephora Australia right now. But for those of us in the states, the best place I could find this product at is Amazon. And it retails for $25 (USD). For whatever reason, the amount of the hot cleanser you get is 0.7 oz and it is less than what you get in the cool cleanser which is 1.05 oz. So, for a total of 1.75 oz, you’re paying $25.
Another website I found this at is Althea Korea. I have never shopped from them, so I do not know the credibility, but I have heard of the store before from a couple Instagrammers so it’s probably worth a shot. And on their website, the cleanser currently retails for $15. So worth it!

Let’s talk about the individual cleansers starting with the hot cleanser first.
Pore Blackhead Steam Foam Cleanser
The hot cleanser is meant to heat, refine and exfoliate. It has very very very tiny granules in it, however, don’t be afraid. These are not like most manual exfoliators- you won’t even feel the scrubbies on the skin because they’re so deeply embedded into the thick creamy cleanser.
“The Pore Blackhead Steam Foam Cleanser deep cleanses by harnessing the power of steam while natural brown sugar gently exfoliates, providing a smoother and more refined texture. As the cleanser heats up on contact, it removes impurities and dissolves dead skin cells softly without irritation – resulting in smoother and firmer looking skin” – Caolion
I actually completely 100% agree with the claims. The brown sugar does act as a VERY soft exfoliant, the cleanser does heat up on contact with the skin and engulfs you in the warmth. After I finish massaging it in, I rinse off with cold water as they suggest, and MY GOD. The skin you’re left with has only one phrase – SQUEAKY CLEAN. Trust me, if you want to push a manual reset button on your skin at the end of every week, this is the cleanser to do so with. That’s actually exactly how I use it. I use it only once, max two times a week. If I’ve worn a ton of makeup that day or if it’s Sunday and I just want to start/end my week with a complete cleanout of my skin, this is my go to.
This is NOT a daily cleanser. This is the motherload of all cleansers if you will. My skin looks brighter (temporarily), looks CLEAN, as if I just showered thrice and I feel like all my pores get cleaned out. I don’t have particularly stubborn blackheads so I’m not sure about the effect of this cleanser on that. But of course, I do get the occasional few so next time I’ll make sure to really notice what this does for my blackheads. Typically, this cleanser is recommended to be used at night.
What I am NOT a fan of is the smell. I don’t enjoy warm, earthy smells at all and this one smells a little like caramel, brown sugar and sandalwood all combined into one. It is not offensive by any means, but just not the most pleasant for my olfactory senses.
Pore Tightening Cooling Foam Cleanser
“The Pore Tightening Cooling Foam Cleanser gently cleanses and refreshes with a cooling sensation to soothe, awaken skin, and tighten pores. As the skin cools down, the addition of kaolin clay and peppermint oil help calm, depuff skin, and tighten enlarged pores to enhance skin firmness and contouring.” – Caolion
The cool cleanser works much like the hot cleanser in the sense that it gives you the same squeaky clean skin. However, the feeling is completely different. Firstly, this has no exfoliating particles or scrubbies in it. So it’s purely a creamy clay cleanser. Secondly, it is extremely cooling – as in you will definitely feel tingly all over the skin when you have this product on your face. I typically scoop a little and start to massage it onto my face for about 3 minutes. Then just because I feel like, I leave it on for about another 2 minutes as a quick mask. If you are not a fan of tingly sensations on the skin, or are sensitive to them, stay far far away from this cleanser.
The scent on this is sooo much better than the hot cleanser. That might partly be the reason why I reach for this cool version more. Another reason is that the tingly minty coolness of the cleanser really does wake me up. I splash on some warm water to remove the cleanser and you’re left with some amazing clean, smooth skin. Again, I really don’t know what this does for my pores in terms of making them look smaller. I haven’t spent time to really examine the pores. Plus, I don’t have my magnifying mirror, so I anyway won’t be able to tell the difference.
One of the cons I’ve noticed with this duo is that if it gets into your eyes, it can irritate a little. It is nothing that will set your eyes on fire, but it will definitely be uncomfortable. So make sure that it doesn’t get into your eyes. Sometimes when I use it, it does inevitably get into my eyes – I just make sure to really splash my eyes properly with water before opening them and I don’t feel a thing.
Caolion Hot and Cool Pore Foam Cleansing Duo – Final Thoughts
Neither of the cleansers are touted as acne targeting products. However, I think that their clay based nature lends them helpful toward drying up any active pimples you may have. I use this cleanser especially during the time of the month, because invariably my skin breaks out at that time and I need something like this cleanser to keep the acne at bay and keep the skin clear and the pores clean. If you pick this up and think, hmm there is very little product, don’t worry. You only need such a small amount of product that I’m sure this tub duo will last absolutely ages. Use a very small amount on your wet face and the product will spread very easily. There’s no reason why you should be running out of the cleanser faster than normal.
This post is not sponsored in case you read my gushing love story on this and begin to wonder to yourself. However, this product was sent to me by 0.8L exactly a year ago. So even though I’m not obligated to do this post or anything, just thought that I should put it out there. Would I pick this up if I were spending my own money? Absolutely.
That’s it loves! Those are all my thoughts on this unique cleansing system that is the Caolion Hot and Cool Pore Foam Cleansing Duo.
