L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara Review + Too Faced BTS Comparison
Hello loves! Let me tell you right off the bat – L’Oreal completely knocked it out of the park with this one. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, let me give you a quick intro. So, L’Oreal very recently brought out a new mascara called the L’Oreal Lash Paradise which is a part of their voluminous mascara range. Several people love and swear by that line of mascara anyway, so expectations from this newbie were also high in everyone’s mind. I’m here to tell you – L’Oreal completely delivered. If you follow me on Instagram, you may know that one of my all time favorite mascaras is the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes. Well believe me when I tell you, I haven’t been this excited and impressed by a mascara in a hell of a long time. Another reason why the L’Oreal Lash Paradise has gotten so much hype is because – apparently it is supposed to be a dupe for the cult classic Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (TF BTS). So let’s get into the review. I’m going to be going through the details of this mascara as well as compare it to the TF BTS.
L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara Review
Let’s not pretend that the gorgeous gorgeous packaging isn’t one of the reasons that a lot of us beauty junkies would be attracted to this mascara in the first place. I know I was! My poor smartphone photography doesn’t capture half its beauty but let me describe it a little. The tube is a stunning metallic gold based pink with a gold rim around the neck. If there ever was a classy mascara tube, this would be in the top five. So I already give major points to the drugstore for stepping up their game big time in packaging. These days, the drugstore has gotten so good that only the packaging tells the makeup part from high end; the quality is often comparable if not better. So when the drugstore comes out with divine packaging along with unbeatable quality, we’re sure to be spoiled for choice.
This mascara retails for $8.99. I found mine at Target (United States). That I think is a fantastic price for the great quality. Plus, it rarely so happens that I pay full price for anything at the drugstore. There are always coupons and deals galore at the drugstore, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled.
So finally coming to the meat of the matter – the formula. I can truly truly say that this mascara does it all. It volumizes, lengthens, not only holds a curl but it itself curls your lashes (you don’t even have to curl your lashes beforehand). If a person with skinny lashes like me loves this mascara, I think it should work on almost anyone. With that said, mascara is one of the most personal makeup items out there. So I highly doubt everyone will ever be on the same page with it. The reason I mentioned Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara in the intro is because this formula actually reminds of that mascara (even tho it’s been touted as a dupe for the Toofaced one). The Tarte one and this one, are both mascaras that are on the drier side. If you’ve tried a few different mascaras then you know that there are some mascaras that are too too wet when they are fresh in the tube. This can be sometimes be a pain in the arse because the formula can end up getting everywhere, can clump the lashes etc etc. I personally always prefer drier formulas. That’s probably why I love love love this mascara so much. I tested this mascara for a week straight so I can firmly tell you – this is one of the most longest lasting mascaras. My skinny straight lashes not only look completely different, almost like a natural pair of falsies, the enviable curl, length and volume STAYS constant throughout the day. I find that my lashes show very little, if any, amount of drooping. And finally, there is ZERO fallout with this mascara. I mean ZERO. When you’ll wear this mascara and come home after a log day, you’ll notice that there are probably zero to one specks of mascara underneath your lashes that have fallen down.
Comparison with the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
So the reason the interweb started comparing the L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara with the Too Faced Better Than Sex is because of the uncanny resemblance that both the mascaras have in terms of packaging (excuse my beat up Too Faced tube above) and more specifically, the brush wand. The picture below shows the TF brush wand at the bottom and the L’Oreal one at the top.
So as you can see from the picture, the packaging and the wand both look extremely similar. Allow me to draw the distinction right here. I DO NOT like the Too Faced mascara whatsoever. My biggest problem with the TF is that it is one of the flakiest mascaras I own. I also do not like the ginormous wand on it. For some reason, the combination of the wand and the formula makes it so hard for me to use, it always ends up getting everywhere. Top that off with its relentless tendency to flake, I am not in love with that mascara. I am glad its getting over soon because I just wanna use it up and trash it.
On a more positive note now, the L’Oreal Lash Paradise was extremely easy to use; even though the wand is similar to the TF, its actually got some minute shape differences. The L’Oreal wand is not as thick and fluffy at the tip; this makes it an ideal shape for precise non-messy application. It brilliantly catches and coats every single lash. And because of the sturdy brush, when you brush through your lashes, it makes sure to really curl them and feather them in a way that I haven’t seen in a mascara in a long long time.
So let’s recap. The L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara is absolutely 100% one of the best new releases and one of the best mascaras at the drugstore. It:
⇒ Curls lashes
⇒ Separates and makes them look feathery
⇒ False lash effect
⇒ Long lasting and doesn’t flake
⇒ Super affordable
There is literally nothing else that I would want in a mascara. I know I sound like I am hyping it up but I swear to God you guys, it has been forever since I found a mascara that lived up to my Tarte Lights Camera Lashes and even Benefit Roller Lash; both of which are high end and not necessarily affordable.
So that’s it loves! I hope you enjoyed this post on the new L’Oreal mascara. I think L’Oreal killed it; I even want to try their new blue mascara that’s come out in the same voluminous range. I have so many more drugstore gems to talk about; but my life situation is a bit weird currently, so I may Instagram more than I blog. So if you’d like to, follow me over on Insta (there’s a direct icon at the bottom of the page). Other than that, I hope you all have a lovely weekend and let me know if you have tried this or anything else that’s new and exciting at the drugstore.
