YesTo Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser Review

The world of cleansing balms and oils is progressively getting larger. Several skincare and even cosmetic companies have come out with balms and oils all designed to melt the makeup, dirt and grime right off your face. Today I am reviewing one of the BEST, MOST EFFECTIVE and MOST AFFORDABLE cleansing balms I have come across in my “product testing career”- the YesTo Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser.

YesTo Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser – What is it exactly?

YesTo Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser

I get a lot of questions about starting cleansing routines and what products to use and such. Beauty and skincare junkies all probably know the concept of ‘double cleansing’. However, several folks are still unaware of that concept so let me address that really quick. There are two types of cleansers in today’s market – FIRST CLEANSE and SECOND CLEANSE cleansers. First cleanse cleansers are named as such because as the name suggests, this should be the first cleanser you use. These cleansers are primarily used to remove makeup. Even if you don’t wear makeup at a given day, it is wise to use these because these are very nourishing and moisturizing to the skin. So basically, when you use a first cleanse cleanser of the balm or oil variety, you are not only cleaning the skin, but also adding some nourishment to it and not stripping the skin. Now that your skin is relatively free of most makeup and other pore clogging junk, it is time to clean the ACTUAL SKIN with a second cleanser also known as a morning cleanser. Most people are familiar and already have second cleansers in their arsenal. These are your typical gel type cleansers (not necessarily, I’m just giving an example) that you normally use. These cleansers are meant to clean the actual skin after you’ve removed that first layer of junk we’ve talked about. These cleansers are also typically used in the morning because when you wake up, you don’t have any makeup or dirt on the face, so only one cleanser suffices without needing to do a double cleansing routine. Now that we have cleared these concepts, the cleanser we are reviewing today falls in the FIRST CLEANSE category, but I actually use it either for FIRST and/or SECOND cleanse.

The packaging of this cleanser is a very simple plastic squeezy tube packaging. No muss no fuss.

I am by no means an ingredients expert at all. I know what I know just by what I read on the blogosphere. But even with my limited knowledge, I can already tell you the PHENOMENAL lineup of ingredients in this cleanser. About 80% of this cleanser has all kinds of good, healthy natural oils and extracts. Everything you could imagine that would help deeply nourish the skin. Fragrance is the very last ingredient, which means it is in the littlest amount possible. And considering that this cleanser will be washed off your face within minutes or seconds, it isn’t a huge factor. At least for me, I have never found this to break me out. In fact, every time I break out, I use this as my ‘safe’ cleanser because I know it doesn’t do anything funny to aggravate my breakouts. It smells of coconuts and in a very good way. And this is coming from someone who is not at all a fan of coconut scented things.

Texture and Consistency

YesTo Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser

The YesTo Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser is a little different in texture from other cleansers of this type that I have tried. It is slightly ‘hard’, or more ‘dense’ in texture when you first squeeze it out of the bottle. The first time I tried it, I had a little trouble adjusting to this new texture. But then as I trialed it a couple times, I realized there was a trick to this. Squeeze a little amount of product in your hands, and add like five drops of water. DO NOT go overboard with the water. START SMALL. Start rubbing the cleanser on to the face, gently massaging your skin. Once you think the cleanser is sort of getting hard to spread again, add a little more water to your face and repeat.
Pro Tip: Once you are done with your little mini facial, go ahead and soak a flannel in some steaming water, wring it out a little and carefully, press the flannel against your skin and just leave it like that for a few seconds. You will be transported into the coconut laden air of Hawaii for those few moments while your pores react to the warmth and completely start to clear out. Wipe the cleanser off until everything is off your face. You will be left with the most nourished yet squeaky clean skin that screams healthy.

When to Use?

YesTo Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser

The YesTo Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser has become my absolute RIDE OR DIE. I use this cleanser almost daily if not twice a day sometimes. So how and when do I use it? An example of a typical morning routine of mine is shown in this picture.
Scenario 1: If I have worn a light layer of makeup that day, I’ll use a micellar water or something to remove the the light layer of makeup. Then I’ll go in with this cleanser.
Scenario 2: Even though this is a balm cleanser, I use it as my morning cleanser as well. Sometimes, because I have dry skin, I wake up and don’t feel like using anything that will dry out my skin. In this case also I like to reach for this cleanser.
Scenario 3: You can use this is a first cleanse even when you’ve worn heavy makeup. It’s just that I don’t because on heavy makeup days I’ve found that I like my Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter much more for that specific purpose.
Pro Tip: It all comes down to preferences and a little bit of trial and error.

The YesTo Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser retails for $9.99 (USD). In the US at least, you can find this at Ulta and other drugstores. You know what I’m going to say next – wait for a sale! Yes, I do know this is already extremely affordable. Even so. I am a huge believer in saving those pretty pennies wherever possible because why the hell not? No but really, now that I know how much I love and reach for it, I would gladly pay twice the price for this. I got this in June of 2016 I believe and like I said, I have used this consistently, almost every day since then. It’s April of 2017 now and I still have almost 3-4 months worth of product left in my tube. You need such a LITTLE amount of product, it’s crazy how long one tube will last you. Like I said in the intro, this is literally the best, most effective and most affordable cleanser of its type I have come across. It gives you the most bang for your buck.

I wish I were sponsored by them but in case you were wondering, I am not 🙂 I like to give credit where credit is due.

So that’s it folks! I hope you enjoyed my sappy love letter to the wonderful gem of a product that is the YesTo Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser. Please let me know if you have tried this before. I do see some fellow bloggers of mine loving this on Instagram but not nearly enough people rave or know about this in my opiiniii. I don’t always end up blogging up the several things I love so make sure to come follow me on Instagram (@neighha) or directly click the little icon at the bottom of the page. I am wayy more active over there. And with that shameless plug, until next time …

Stay Beautiful,
