Buxom Full On Lip Cream Review & Swatches
Every time someone asks me on Instagram how I like a certain new product, I’m always hesitant to answer immediately, because my lifestyle just doesn’t afford me enough time to play/test makeup very quickly. And I absolutely refuse to be one of those bloggers who magically have their thoughts formed in the span of a day. I am not sure why I am sounding so bitchy haha. But my point is, despite my usual lack of time and frankly energy to test much makeup, I have been automatically reaching for the Buxom Full On Lip Cream everyday. EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. So you already know how this review is going to go down 😉
Buxom Full On Lip Cream: Packaging
Let me start with the packaging of these because I think the packaging is absolutely GORGEOUS. The frosted glass, matte like finish tubes are extremely pleasing to the eyeballs and more importantly to us frivolous people, these look amazing on the vanity. Something about the combination of the tube and the shiny lettering makes these some of the most PHOTOGENIC products I have ever photographed.
Buxom Full On Lip Cream: Formula
The Buxom Full On Lip Creams are basically glosses. The formula of these glosses is absolutely brilliant. They are one of the most creamiest glosses I have tried. And the best part of these is that they completely free of shimmer. I know the whole ‘lip topper’, ‘metallic lip’ trend is spreading like wildfire all over social media, but I absolutely despise that trend. I mean, for art and editorial stuff, that does look gorgeous. Personally, in my every day life, I don’t ever wear shimmery lips. Anyway, so these are just pure creamy glosses with zero shimmer. An even bigger plus for me is that these are the perfect mixture of pigment and shine. Some lip glosses are so overly pigmented that they look completely opaque and not much like a gloss. And some are so glossy that you look like you barely have any color on. To me, these are the perfect in between. They look glassy on the lips like you just kinda licked them. For these being a gloss, they last on the lips for such a long time. Another notable quality of these is that they are meant to be ‘plumping’. Now, when you put these on, they have a minty sensation on the lips. This minty tingly sensation is the mechanism by which these are supposed to plump the lips. I personally do not find any such plumping occurrence happening on my lips. With that said, these DO make your lips look plump by virtue of how glassy they are and how they just kinda smooth all the little lines and imperfections of your lips making them look fuller and juicier. And finally, and perhaps most importantly for a lot of people, these aren’t overly sticky. They are just sticky enough to give longevity to the gloss. Oh and these have a pleasant vanilla mint scent.
Buxom Full On Lip Cream: Price
The Buxom Full On Lip Creams retail for $20 a piece. These are available at the usual places such as Sephora, Ulta and the Buxom website. Fortunately, Ulta recently did their massive 21 Days of Beauty sale and these were half off. So I was able to snag them for 10 bucks a piece. But, now that I have tried and used these, I can wholeheartedly say that even though it is just a lip gloss, I would gladly pay the full price just because I know I’m going to get a ton of use out of these.
Buxom Full On Lip Cream: Swatches
So here are the swatches of the five glosses I picked up. The swatches were taken in direct natural sunlight. The picture is completely unedited so the colors you are seeing are exactly how they show up on my medium deep skin tone. Now of course, depending on the skin tone, pigmentation and color of your lips, the way these show up can differ. As you can see, these are super duper pigmented, but not overly so because you can see a proper wash of color but you can also see a bit of skin peeking through. I haven’t built these swatches up. I think the main thing I am impressed with is how beautiful each of them looks on my skin tone. Usually, with several glosses, it’s difficult to find nudes for medium skin tones that don’t wash you out. With these, the nudes to the brights all look really pretty and actually do show up on the lips. Needless to say, I am very impressed with them. There’s not one color that I picked up that I don’t see myself using.
Top to Bottom:
Rose Julep: Soft dusty rosy pink
Mudslide: Peachy nude with hints of brown
Berry Blast: Vibrant fuschia pink
Cherry Flip: Coral red
Hot Toddy: Pale brown nude
