Rimmel Magnif’Eyes Eyeshadow Palette: Review

Hellooo loves! It has been a crazy few months with the makeup industry because every brand is just spitting out more and more makeup and we’re getting sucked right in. Well, at least I am čśë There have been tons and tons of palettes coming out from every brand, but the drugstore especially is abuzz with new products for the spring launches. The palette we are going to discuss and review today is the┬áRimmel Magnif’Eyes Eyeshadow Palette. This is a palette very reminiscent of the mighty Urban Decay naked shadows so we’re going to go through every aspect and even compare it side by side to a UD palette.

The shadows are housed in a plastic packaging. While the packaging is nothing out of this world, it is not terrible either. It’s just meh. Nothing else can be expected when the product itself is so affordable. And honestly, even some of my more high end makeup packaging is all scratched up. So if you actually use your makeup (unlike the many people I see online who just show new makeup and/or PR -.-), there’s only so much you can do to protect it.

Shade Range
This range of palettes comes in three variations : the one I picked up is Keep Calm and Wear Gold. The other ones looked pretty too, I obviously don’t need all three. Interesting tidbit: there are UK versions of this range of palettes which come with only 8 shadows instead of the US 12 shadow version. No idea why that is so, but that’s what it is.

This palette retails for $7.99 and is now available at pretty much all drugstores. I’ll link the product on Ulta.

Product: Pigmentation
These eyeshadows when swatched, take a lot of building up. When used on the eyes, it is the same story. With a brush, the mattes show up well on the eyes. The shimmers are a little on the disappointing side – they give more of a sheen on the eyes than a shimmer or a metallic finish. BUT. The story changes a little bit when you use a primer, a white base or you wet the shadows. Any and all of these methods take the pigmentation of the shadow to the next level. Quite honestly, for a palette that is 8 bucks, this performs as expected. Not that that’s an excuse to produce mediocre shadows because frankly, there are several brands that have made affordable palettes with great pigmentation.

Product: Blendability
One of the biggest pros of this palette is that the blendability is excellent. I have no complaints in this regard.

Product: Longevity
Another very redeeming quality about the Rimmel Magnif’Eyes Eyeshadow Palette┬áis the amazing staying power of the shadows even without a primer. In fact, I am one of those lazier people who don’t take the time to prime the eyes. Even so, these shadows have stayed on me morning through evening throughout a full school/working day.

Below are the swatches of this palette. Like I mentioned, these took a little bit of building up. And even then the swatches are quite faint considering these are finger swatches. They may show up a little better on someone who is lighter in skin tone than me. But I absolutely love the color story of the palette. Half the palette is┬áquite cool toned and not something I usually gravitate towards. It’s a nice change for me.

Potential Dupe?
The picture below is a side by side comparison of the overall theme and color story of this palette and the Urban Decay Naked2. As you can see from the picture, the overall gist of both these palettes is VERY similar. However, there aren’t too many spot on shade dupes, and this is a case where the higher end palette (UD) is definitely more pigmented and of a better quality than its lookalike.

Rimmel Magnif'Eyes Eyeshadow Palette

Arightyy guys! I hope you enjoyed a review of the┬áRimmel Magnif’Eyes Eyeshadow Palette. Overall, I think this is a 3/5 kind of a palette where it is quite nice for the price but you do have to work a little bit to get the desired results. I wouldn’t say this is a must-have by any means, and I wouldn’t say this is bad at all either. If that helps haha. Have you guys tried this? Also, does anyone know how the UK version performs? I’m very curious so please let me know down in the comments and we can chat! Until the next one ..

Stay beautiful,
