Black Friday 2016 Haul: Skin, Hair and Body Care
Hello loves! Pheww! What a weekend it was. The constant anxiety of waiting for the Gilmore Girls revival and the several, and I do mean SEVERALL BF deals to go live was very real. So, now that we’re past that exciting weekend, let me show you the damage in this Black Friday 2016 haul. Truth be told, I was actually pretty restrained with myself and mostly bought things I really really needed as opposed to wanted 😉 Having said that, I still managed to do enough damage to justify splitting this haul post into two parts. Today’s post will focus on the skin and body bits and pieces I picked up because I’m still waiting on a couple more makeup orders to arrive.
Black Friday 2016 Haul: Haircare
Before Ulta’s official Black Friday deals, there were two days where they had some pre-Bf deals. And in fact, I found some of those deals to be even better than the actual BF deals. One of the brands on sale was SheaMoisture. Now SheaMoisture’s hair and body care type stuff rarely ever goes on sale as far as I’ve seen, so I thought that that sale was the perfect opportunity to pick up some of their shampoos. I am currently using Pacifica’s Kale Shampoo and I have realized that those kinds of natural, sulfate free shampoos are doing wonders for my hair. And even though I do like the Pacifica shampoo, I am not the most loyal shampoo user. I am always trying out new ones just as a hobby. So, I picked up the SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo and the African Water Mint and Ginger Shampoo. The castor oil shampoo claims to be clarifying yet nourishing while the water mint shampoo claims to aid in having a healthy scalp that is free of product buildup as well. As you can tell, I really am in need of a good clarifying shampoo because for about 4 days of the week, my hair is usually chock full of dry shampoo.
Miscellaneous: These shampoos retail for 10.99 each and can be found at Ulta, Target and several other drugstores. I’ll link them both here and here.
SheaMoisture Superfruit Multivitamin Leave in Detangler
Last item from this brand is their superfruit detangler. Although it may not seem like it from this haul (:D), I am trying to use up products and only purchase them in a come in go out fashion. So, I recently used up my ginormous bottle of the Mane and Tail detangler. And while that was definitely good, and way cheaper, I do want to see if there’s maybe something better out there in the world of detanglers.
Miscellaneous: This retails for $12.99 at Ulta. I do think that that is a slightly expensive price point especially for a drugstore brand. If you prefer, you can do what I did and wait for a sale to make this a better deal.
EVA NYC Freshen Up Dry Shampoo
If you’ve been following me either on social or reading my blog regularly, then you know that the Batiste Dry Shampoo is my absolute holy grail. Despite trying several other dry shampoos, some even high end, I haven’t found anything that works as well as Batiste. I do have a post comparing a lot of different dry shampoos which I’ll link here. However, I recently saw someone on Instagram saying that the Eva Nyc dry shampoo was even better than the Batiste one. So of course, as soon as I heard that statement, I knew I had to pick this up and see if the hype was true. I will of course keep you updated on how I end up liking this. You’ll probably want to follow me on Instagram (@neighha) if you’d like to be updated of some mini reviews I do there. Just saying 😉
Miscellaneous: This dry shampoo retails for $11.99 but is currently on sale at Ulta! I’ll link it here.
EVA NYC Surfs Up! Texture Spray
The last haircare item in this Black Friday 2016 haul is the Eva NYC texture spray. I decided to pick this up on a whim. I don’t have any texturizing sprays in my collection currently and instead of buying some of the more expensive and popular ones (Ouai and Oribe), I figured I’d give this one a shot.
Miscellaneous: The texture spray retails for $11.99 but is also currently on sale at Ulta. I’ll link it here
Black Friday 2016 Haul: Bodycare
Soap and Glory Clean On Me Shower Gel
This next section of the Black Friday 2016 haul includes some of the bodycare things I picked up during the sales. The first thing in this category is the Soap and Glory Clean On Me shower gel. I cannot even begin to tell you how long this has been on my list for. Over the years, I kept hearing my favorite UK youtubers raving about this shower gel and I always use to sigh that we didn’t have this brand in the States. Now that we have had this brand in the US for a while, I knew it was about time I picked this up and tried it out. And of course, what sweetened the deal was that Ulta had everything Soap and Glory on 30% off sale a few days ago. That made this shower gel cheap as chips.
Miscellaneous: It originally retails for $10.00 on Ulta. And now, even Walgreens carries this brand.
Caress Passionate Spell Body Wash
Okay, so this is another one of those extremely hyped about body washes on Youtube. I know for a fact that a couple of my favorite youtubers rave constantly about this body wash. I don’t know if it was this particular scent they were raving about, but I just opened up the lid to sniff and by God it smells amazing. And honestly, the biggest draw of this body wash is that it literally is more affordable than a bag of chips.
Miscellaneous: The Caress body wash retails for $3.50 at Target. And Target recently had a 25% off sale on their health and beauty items and I just wanted to cry with joy at how affordable this ended up to be. FYI, Target has a free shipping no minimum policy for the rest of the year in case you wanted to order this or anything else really.
Hempz Vanilla Plum Herbal Body Moisturizer
If you follow this blog, then you know I am very low maintenance when it comes to body lotions. I use them religiously, but I am not picky. I have basically been using the Bath and Body Works lotions for like over 6 years now. And even though I love those (which btw, they are the next item in this Black Friday 2016 haul), I just really really wanted to switch it up and try something new. I had heard of the brand Hempz and seen their lotions on Ulta’s website, but I always thought that paying $20 something dollars for a bottle of lotion was kinda ridiculous and frankly, way out of my budget. BUT, when I saw that my local TJ Maxx had tons and tons of Hempz lotions on discount, I knew I had to jump on that. Plus, the really cool thing about this range of lotions is that they have some amazing combinations of scents. For example, the one I picked up is Vanilla Plum. They even have stuff like Blushing Grapefruit and Raspberry, Pink Berry Chiffon, Fresh Coconut and Watermelon etc. Do they not sound like the most absolute delicious items ever? Since these are more expensive than the average lotion, I just bought one bottle to try it out.
Miscellaneous: I’m linking the lotion on Ulta’s website here. However, if you have a TJ Maxx near you, I would suggest getting it from there. It is literally half the price. BTW, this lotion originally retails for $23.00. Ouch.
Bath and Body Works Body Lotions
It is no surprise to anyone who knows me that I always buy BBW body lotions in bulk when they’re on sale. So I definitely couldn’t do my Black Friday 2016 haul without talking about these. The last time I bought them in bulk was exactly a year and a half ago. If I were to calculate, I’d say that one bottle of their lotion lasts me two months. So just a few days ago, they had a $3 lotion sale and I rushed to my local mall to restock because I had completely run out of lotion (I bought the Hempz one after).
Miscellaneous: These originally retail for $12.50. But like I alwaysss say, never pay full price for anything from BBW because they are constantly doing sales and deals.
Black Friday 2016 Haul: Hand Cream
EOS Hand Lotion in Berry Blossom
I just recently finished my EOS hand lotion in the Cucumber scent. I love these little hand lotions because: well, first of all look at the packaging. And second, these are so perfect and compact to throw in the handbag. I always carry one in my bag with me to school because I am constantly working in labs and washing hands which tends to dry them out a lot. So since I love these lotions, I just picked up a new one in the berry blossom scent. I will say this though. The formula of these hand lotions is quite light and absorbs quickly. However, if you have extremely extremely dry skin on your hands, you might need something a little stronger. I do have dry skin, so I usually use this during the day time or as my summer hand cream. For the night time, I like to keep a different and more rich hand cream by my bedside table.
Miscellaneous: These retail for $1.99 at Target. I found them for even cheaper when Target had their 25% off BF sale on all things beauty. God I love a good bargain.
Jenna Hipp Hand Cream
You know how I just said I need a good and richer hand cream for my bedside table? Well, I just recently finished my Soap and Glory Hand Food hand cream so I was in need of a new one (I get the feeling I’m being super redundant in this whole blog post. Point is, I’ve been using things up and as I finish them, I’ve mostly been replacing each thing by a new product to try). I found this gigantic tube of hand cream from TJ Maxx. I have never heard of this brand before, so I figured I’d give it a shot. It says on the tube that the hand cream is more on the natural side without any added fragrance, parabens, synthetic dyes etc. I’ve actually tried this out a couple times now and I really like it. Will keep you guys updated.
Miscellaneous: This is possibly the most affordable hand cream I’ve come across. This retails for $2.99 at TJ Maxx for a ginormous 4 oz tube.
Black Friday 2016 Haul: Skincare
Nip and Fab Acid Toning Pads
Now that I am actually writing this Black Friday 2016 haul post, I am realizing just how many essentials I’ve managed to pick up even after restraining myself from a lot of other sales 😛 Okay, so the next and last category for this haul is skincare. Again, same story. Just yesterday I finished my beloved Pixi Glow Tonic. However, while that tonic is great, I felt like my skin needed something a little bit stronger. So I picked up the Nip and Fab Glycolic Fix Extreme Night Pads. As the name suggests, these are basically glycolic acid toning pads usually reserved for night time skincare. Now, a little backstory here. Previously this year, I actually picked these up and tried them out. My skin wasn’t very pleased with these and kept breaking out. Now I know you’ll say that that was just a purge period. But you know, it wasn’t. Purge periods shouldn’t last more than a couple weeks tops. But now, I feel like my skin has changed. I can’t explain it, but I can feel it. So I’ve decided to give these a shot again.
But just in case my skin didn’t agree with those either, I also picked up the Nip and Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Cleansing Pads. I have heard that for a lot of people like me whose skins didn’t agree with the extreme pads, the dragon’s blood pads have worked infinitely better. The salicyclic and hyaluronic acids in here are supposed to be good for people with spotty/dry skin problems. I have high hopes that at least one of these acids will work for me. And I bought both at a fantastic deal so I don’t feel too guilty in case they don’t work out.
Miscellaneous: The Extreme Night Pads are $14.99 and the Dragon’s Blood Pads are $12.99. These can be found at Ulta. The deal I got was that my local CVS carries just the glycolic range so with a lot of the extrabucks and $3 off of Nip and Fab skincare, I actually ended up getting the Extreme pads for only $3.00! Such a steal I think. Oh and the Dragon’s blood pads are only found at Ulta as far as I know, but even those were on sale a few days back during their pre-BF sale event.
Nip and Fab Glycolic Fix Serum
The last piece of business in this Black Friday 2016 haul is the Nip and Fab glycolic serum. You know how I said that my local CVS carries the glycolic range? Well, the deal in CVS was that all Nip and Fab skincare was BOGO FREE plus the extrabucks rewards and coupons and other things I mentioned. So, since I wanted to pick up the acid pads anyway, I picked up the Glycolic Fix Serum as well for free. I have yet to try this out, so I’ll do so and hopefully do a review soon.
Miscellaneous: The Glycolic Fix Serum retails for $14.99. I can’t believe I have such a good local CVS that does amazing deals so that I basically got $30 worth of Nip and Fab products for only $3.00!
Alrighty my loves! I know this was a bit of a long post, but I really wanted to show you guys some of the things I got so you know what I’ll be testing for the next few weeks/months. I really want to thank you guys for stopping by to read my Black Friday 2016 haul and spending some of your time with me. Stay tuned for a Part 2 of this which may be more interesting to some of you since it will contain all things makeup 😉 I hope you have a good one!
Stay beautiful loves,
