Tarte Haul: October 2016
Hi hi hi loves! It’s been a hot minute since I blogged a haul. Lately I’ve been picking and choosing carefully which products I really wanna pick up and so I’ve just been posting about it on Instagram (inserting shameless plug here — Ig username is @neighha 😉 ) So, finally I made a purchase big enough to warrant a blog post. If you didn’t guess from the title already, I’m talking you through a Tarte haul today. I have never actually owned anything major from Tarte. The only exception is the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara. That mascara has been my holy grail for over a year now and there it shall stay. So I’m excited to play around with some of the things I’m going to show you and see if they reach that holy grail status for me.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation
Starting the Tarte haul off with base products, the first thing I picked up is their Amazonian Clay foundation which also has an SPF 15. I’m not one to buy new foundations too frequently because I can never finish them and they are expensive as hell. I prefer to reserve my money more for skincare. Still, I have been wanting a good full coverage foundation for a while now. Because everything I own is quite dewy and leans towards a maximum of medium coverage. Even my Makeup Forever HD doesn’t quite give me the coverage I desire. And even though my skin has been good, I always struggle with texture issues and I’m hoping that maybe amping up my coverage will help subside the look of texture on my face. Anyway, so long story short, Tarte recently had a sale on their website because the company celebrated 16 years or something like that. So I bought this foundation for half its retail price. Since this was an online order, I’m really hoping the color matches me. For anyone curious, I got the shade Tan Sand.
Miscellaneous: I paid $19.00 on sale. Original retail price is $32.00 on Sephora/Tarte.
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer
Nowww, for the most exciting part of my Tarte haul, the Shape Tape concealer. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will have definitely heard the hype surrounding this bad boy. Same theory as before. All the concealers I own are quite light to medium coverage and don’t do much to hide the deep set crease and darkness that I have under my eyes. Since this concealer is rumored to be extremely high coverage yet very blendable, I decided to try it. I feel like I’m winning at life since I usually never am never on board the beauty train when new releases come out. I’m usually always getting stuff when it’s been like a year late or so 😀 On the flip side, with life as a grad student getting in the way, I actually haven’t had a chance to try this out yet. Judging from the raves I keep hearing about this product, I’m betting it is a goood one. Again, my shade in this is Tan Sand.
Miscellaneous: I paid $19.00 for this. The original retail price for this is $24.00 on Tarte’s website. This can also be found at Ulta (not at Sephora yet).
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Blissful
You know when I said I’m usually the person who buys stuff last? This is a classic example. The whole beauty community and their pugs have been raving and loving these Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes since eons now. Apart from my Becca mini blush, I think this would be my first ever full size high end blush. And I even bought the cult favorite shade Blissful. It is a really gorgeous warm peachy shade (the camera is actually washing the color out) and I’m excited to see if I can corroborate the hype around this product.
Miscellaneous: I paid $14.00 for this on sale otherwise it retails for $28.00. I usually don’t quite like spending money on blushes because I think drugstores do a fantastic job anyway. But I kinda wanted to treat myself to one high end blush so I did 🙂
Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Choker
No haul of mine would be complete without buying some variation of a brown lipstick – preferably a liquid lipstick. The matte lip paints from Tarte are exactly that – liquid lipsticks that dry down to a matte finish. This is my first time trying Tarte’s version of the liquid lipstick formula (my faves so far are Ofra and Jouer). I’m actually particularly excited about this color – it is described as a warm brown. I love me a good warm nude/brown lipstick to match the changing leaves this season.
Miscellaneous: I bought this for $10.00 on sale. It retails for $20.00 on Sephora/Tarte website.
Alrightyy guys! I thank you for taking the time out to read my Tarte haul and for always supporting me. If there’s anything you take from the post it’s this – there’s never a need to buy every single new thing that launches. Everybody has a budget. If you play it right, you can always get high end makeup for cheaper than their original prices. It’s perfectly okay to wait for sales and save some of that hard earned cash of yours. I know I do. With that said, I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week babyloves.
