Ofra Liquid Lipsticks: Review 2016

Hi loves! So, I am actually revamping my old post on the Ofra liquid lipsticks that I did last year. That post was one that I had done on my old website before I migrated to this one. And since I am still head over heels in love with my Ofra liquid lipsticks, I thought I’d reshare the review and some swatches of the lippies I own.

Ofra Liquid Lipsticks:

Ofra Liquid Lipsticks

  • Packaging
When I bought these last year, Ofra had a completely different packaging. And at the time, I wasn’t too impressed with the packaging. I say this because the tubes feel very plasticky and I’d expect more from them considering these aren’t exactly inexpensive. If you see the picture above, notice how some of the writing has completely come off and the names of the company and shades are all on a plastic label instead of being actually embossed on the tube itself. However, I rarely reserve judgement on a product based off of its packaging, so I don’t really let this bother me. Also, Ofra has since revamped its packaging and the newer tubes look much better.
  • Color Selection
As with most cosmetic companies today, Ofra also has a phenomenal color selection in its liquid lipsticks. As you can see, I have everything from the pinks, to the reds, to the nudes. Everyone is guaranteed to find something suitable for their needs.
  • Formula
The Ofra liquid lipsticks are one of the BEST liquid lipsticks formulas out there in my opinion. These are worth every pretty penny and I’ll tell you why. If you own a couple different formulas of liquid lipsticks then you’ll know that some of them have a cream texture, some are mousse-y and some are water based liquids. The Ofra liquid lipsticks fall in the second category. Because they have a mousse-like texture, they are uber comfortable on the lips. I think mostly anyone with no matter how dry their lips will be able to wear these. Even though they are a gorgeous matte finish, they do not dry out your lips whatsoever. It is not necessary to prep the lips beforehand with lip balm. These go on butter smooth. You get a few seconds to build up your layers, blend them with your fingers if you so choose and then play time is over.
  • Staying Power
Once these liquid lipsticks have set, they will not budge. I have mentioned in a post before -I wore one of these lipsticks for almost a full 12 hours out and about in New York City, and it literally lasted me all day. I mean they definitely started to fade around the 6 hour mark, but it is nothing overwhelming. These also do not crumble or wear off in a weird way on the lips. I don’t think anyone will have any complaints about the formula of these liquid lipsticks whatsoever. One thing I do notice – these are not transfer proof. What that means is if you kiss the back of your hand to test these, you will see a little bit of product. The most transfer proof lippies I own are the Jouer liquid lipsticks.
  • Miscellaneous
If you have a medium to deep skin tone, a small piece of advice. A lot of the colors in Ofra’s range lean a little neon. So for example, the Kathleen Lights Miami Fever shade looks like a burnt orange/brown on paler skins, but comes off a slight bit more orange on my skin tone. I can easily correct that by wearing my choice of brown lip liner underneath so that I don’t have hooker lips if you know what I mean. So depending on the pigmentation of your lips and your skin tone, be careful about choosing the colors. Then again, wear whatever the heck you want.
  • Price Point
The one thing that doesn’t sit too well with me is the price. It is quite a deep hole in the pocket to buy more than one of these since they retail at $19.90 a pop on the Ofra Cosmetics website. Then again, most liquid lipsticks retail for this price so it is not like Ofra has a particularly exorbitant price point. However, what I did was buy them in two separate deals. I first bought them on a fabulous deal from Ipsy with which I bought four of these all for the price of $20.00. This was a pretty hefty discount which Ipsy had in one of their weekly offers about a year ago. The second time around, I bought these off of the Ofra Cosmetics website for 40% off. All in all, I would suggest to wait for some discount codes to sweeten the deal. If I come across any deal that I think is interesting, I always update you guys on Instagram so be sure to follow me on there (@neighha). Although now that I have tried these lipsticks, I would pay the full price in the blink of an eye.

The swatches of all the Ofra liquid lipsticks in my collection are shown below
