Colourpop Haul 2016: Lip Products
Hiiiii loves! I am back with another Colourpop haul for this #takemymoneytuesday. I don’t know what it is about Colourpop, but once you start to buy their products, you just feel like wanting to add more and more to the collection until you become a proprietor yourself. Well, I don’t about you but that has certainly been happening with me. The last time I did a Colourpop haul (blog post here), it was only eyeshadows because they were having a sale on them. Now keep in mind that Colourpop is super affordable in itself. But when you’re like me and you tend to want to buy in bulk, it is quite lucrative to wait for a sale 😀 So, that’s what I did. A couple of weeks ago, they had a sale on some of their collection that they were permanently discontinuing. And I had been wanting a couple of their matte lip colors for a while now but I’d always put it off for whatever reason. Then when I saw that they were permanently discontinuing a couple of the things from my wishlist, I knew it was time I placed another order. It ended up that I bought only their various lip products. And well, that’s what bore this Colourpop haul blog post. Let’s discuss what I got shall we?
Colourpop Haul: Ultra Matte Lip
Just in case you are unfamiliar with Colourpop’s lip products – they have a bunch of different formulas such as Ultra Matte lip, lippie stix, Ultra Matte Gloss etc etc. So I’ll start with all the matte liquid lipsticks that I got.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Avenue (far left) : Oh MY GOD you guyss! This is the only color from my haul that I’ve worn so far and it is more gorgeous than I ever expected. Not to toot my own horn here, but honestly this color looks stunning on my skin tone and I couldn’t have imagined a better fall shade. This is described on the website as a deep yellow red. That is very accurate. I suspect that since it is a yellow toned red, it suits my skin tone so much (I’m an NC42 for anyone’s reference).
Miscellaneous: Can be found here. These retail for $6.00 a pop.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Chilly Chili (second to left): This is that one color that inspired this whole Colourpop haul in the first place. Chilly Chili is a color that had been on my list for about a year or more I’d say. And when I saw that they were discontinuing it, I immediately went online and grabbed it. And the way it worked out, I, in fact, got it for a discounted price. The only downside to me telling you guys about this gorgeous color is that it is no longer available, so I’m sorrryyyy if you don’t have it. But if you already do have this, then hurraaah 😀 I would describe this as a soft purple brown.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Scrooge (third from left): Boy am I glad that I already gave you guys a disclaimer about some of these being discontinued shades. Because this one is another one of those. I seriously wish I could’ve blogged about these in time, but Colourpop only had this sale for about a day and a half and of course, my order didn’t get here until seven days later. So again, I’m so sorrryyy. But about this color. This is another gooorgeous color that looks even better in person. I mean I always do some research and look at swatches, but when I swatched this on my arm, it looked really really good. I yet have to wear this on my actual lips, so maybe I’ll update my Instagram with a lip swatch or something. This is a perfect rosy pink – for fairer skin tones this would be gorgeous for sure, but this that PERFECT rose shade for someone with medium to deep skin tones such as myself.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Highball (far right): This is also discontinued. And honestly, I’m actually regretting getting this shade a little bit. This does not look too good on my skin tone ( again- I’m a medium tan/ honey/ golden warm NC 42 type of a skin tone). I personally think this looks too bright and garish on me. If it so turns out (I haven’t tried it on the lips yet), then I’ll just counteract that by wearing a darker lip liner underneath. This is a hot hot pink color.
Colourpop Haul: Lippie Stix
I bought two of their Lippie Stix – which as the name suggests- are lipsticks in a skinny retractable stick format.
Colourpop Lippie Stix in Bichette (left): Bichette is another one of those colors that is going to make my Fall season that much prettier. This is described as deep red wine in a matte finish. I am a little confused by that because when I swatched it, this did not have a matte finish. It was definitely satiny. Maybe I need to wear it on my lips and give it some time for it to completely dry down to a matte finish. Nevertheless, this color is gorgeous and definitely one of those cult must have colors from Colourpop. Have I mentioned how easy to use this product is? If there are days when a liquid lipstick is too high maintenance and you don’t have time for it, this matte lippie stix will be a savior. I know that during school, I’ll definitely be reaching for these sticks way more often.
Miscellaneous: Lippie Stix retail for $5.00. Can be found here.
Colourpop Lippie Stix in Poppin’ (right) : On my skin tone, Poppin’ and highball looked verrryy similar. And yet, Poppin’ is much much more flattering on my skin than highball was in my opinion. Poppin’ is another gorgeous pink. However, it is not too bright in the sense that it is not a bright summer pink – this is more muted yet it has enough brightness to liven up the face. I think I’m going to love this.
Miscellaneous: Can be found here.
Colourpop Haul: Lippie Pencil
I only bought one lippie pencil in this haul. Unfortunately, the lippie pencil in London Fog is now discontinued. However, on the very very bright side, they do however have this same shade in their Ultra Satin Lip formula. So if you’re a huge fan of this shade, you can still get it. I only bought the lippie pencil version because it was on sale. If you see closely, you’ll see the lippie pencil nestled right in the middle of the picture above with a thick red stripe at the bottom.
In the picture below, I have swatched all the shades that I talked about here in various lighting and put them up for comparison in the various lights.
Top to Bottom : Avenue, Scrooge, Chilly Chili, Highball, Bichette, Poppin’ and London Fog taken in daylight/sunlight
Alrightyyy guys! That’s the end of this Colourpop haul focusing on the lip products that I picked from their recent sale. I hope that you guys enjoyed this post and I sincerely thank you for giving me a few minutes of your precious time 🙂 I hope to see y’all in another post soon.
Stay Beautiful loves,
