Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask: The Body Shop

Best face mask ever? Well, you are about to find out. Today we’re talking about The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask. It’s going to be a review solely on this product and if you know me or this blog at all, then you already know I mostly do standalone reviews for products that I think are absolutely stellar 😉 So, settle in with a steaming cuppa coffee on this beautiful Saturday morning and let’s get started.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask: A Review

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask

Product Description: This is what the Body Shop’s website describes this product as “Use our Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask as a purifying face mask treatment for the skin. This non-drying mud texture works to clear and mattify the skin. Due to the powerful antibacterial and healing properties of our key ingredient, tea tree oil, the mask cleanses the skin and absorbs excess oil without over drying. The tea tree oil effectively works to battle blemishes and remove impurities. It instantly cools to soothe the skin. Suitable for blemish-prone skin this mask helps to remedy your biggest skin concerns”. This is basically a clay mask.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau (Solvent). Kaolin (Absorbent). Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifying Agent). Glycerin (Humectant). Myristyl Myristate (Emollient). Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifying Agent). PEG-100 Stearate (Surfactant). Alcohol Denat. (Solvent), Ethylhexyl Palmitate (Skin Conditioning Agent. Propanediol (Viscosity Controlling Agent). Caprylyl Glycol (Skin Conditioning Agent), Cyclopentasiloxane (Skin Conditioning Agent). Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent), Melaleuca Alternifolia Leaf Oil/Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil (Natural Additive), Cyclohexasiloxane (Conditioning Agent). Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Controlling Agent), Menthol (Fragrance Ingredient). Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate (Buffering Agent/Chelating Agent). Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent). Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient). Leptospermum Petersonii Oil (Fragrance Ingredient). Tocopherol (Antioxidant). CI 77289/Chromium Hydroxide Green (Colorant). CI 77492/Iron Oxides (Colorant).

Consistency/Texture/Color/Smell: This mask has one of the best consistencies I have ever experienced. It is a typical clay mask right? However, the feeling it has on your skin is nothing whatsoever like what a typical clay mask would give. The brand isn’t lying at all when they say that this is a ‘non-drying’ mud. I mean literally. I will leave this mask on my face for a good 45 minutes, and yet there is never that tight, stretchy feeling you like you can’t talk, smile, eat etc. TBS Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask is honestly one of the best hydrating clay masks I have ever tried. So, my first big thumbs up is that this mask doesn’t dry the skin out at all and this is a testimony of a dry skinned girl. The mask itself is green in color and the texture is just thick enough to be a pasty clay without being so thick that it has difficulty spreading on the face. This mask smells wonderful, so nothing bad there to say either. This product is not fragrance-free, so that could be a deal breaker for some. But honestly, with or without fragrance, I can’t imagine that anyone’s skin would be irritated by this lovely mask.

Why I love Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask: Now here is my favorite part because I get to explain to you what exactly is so magical about this mask. Read the product description word for word, and I 100% agree with all their claims. I mean how many times does it happen that a product actually does what it claims to do?
1. Like they say, it is non-drying. In fact, it is one of the most comfortable masks I have ever used.
2. It seriously does purify my skin. I use this mask about two times a week, sometimes more if I have been having particularly bad skin days. Use this mask after cleansing your face, leave it on for about 45 minutes, and you will literally see fresh, clean skin that has definitely been purified. I can tell that my pores feel clean when I use this and some of the gunk on my skin like nasty blackheads completely disappear after using this mask.
3. This is possibly one of the best masks you could use in the summer because it feels so amazingly cooling on the skin. I love the scent, the feel, the texture EVERYTHING.
4. If you aren’t sold yet, let’s try this. The single most important factor for my love of this mask is how it gets rid of my acne so effectively. A couple weeks ago, I was having the worst breakouts on my face. I mean the texture, the bumps, the acne on my face was on another level for about four days (probably because I’d eaten too much Taco Bell). I immediately whisked this mask out and let it do its magic. And I was absolutely right. TBS Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask managed to diminish my breakouts overnight. Over a period of two uses of this mask, my skin had completely cleared up of all that fresh acne that had been congesting it. As we all know from endless raves from people, tea tree oil is a star ingredient for blemish and acne prone skin. A simple Google search will give you a full description of the different uses, benefits etc. of tea tree oil so I won’t bang on about that. Long story short, if you suffer from problematic skin, and have issues with acne on your skin, this will be your savior.

Price: For the way that this mask performs, I would absolutely pay more for it if I had to. Thank God that this is by The Body Shop which means that this mask is going to be affordable yet more than functional. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask retails for $17.00 for 3.85 oz.

Honestly, I kinda regret not having before and after pictures for you guys to show you how this mask seriously helped control my acne. I didn’t think to take pictures because I wasn’t expecting it to work as well as it did. In any case, I hope you guys will give this product a shot. I promise you, you will love it as much as I do. Please do let me know down in the comments or my Instagram if you end up purchasing this and how it works out for you. The key thing to keep in mind is to use this mask consistently. It will definitely shrink your acne spots overnight, but it takes a couple uses for it to fully take effect on the skin as is the case with any and all skin care products.

Hope you guys have a fabulous weekend and your skin stays clear and bright all week long 😀

Much love,

I have been using body butters from the body shop for a very long time and recently I actually stopped, because I felt like the quality of them is not the same as it was a few years back, so I am happy to hear a good review about some other product from the brand. Myself I have a dry skin, so it wouldn’t be a mask for me, but I have to check out other masks for my skin type. 🙂

Hi Sandra! Oh but that’s the beauty of this mask. I too have perpetually dry skin, but this is one of the most comfortable and hydrating clay masks I’ve used. I didn’t find that this dried my skin at all. But yes, definitely check out their other masks and maybe even let me know if there’s one you end up loving xx
