July Empties : Mini Reviews 2016

All those of you that hold on to your trash for monthly empties posts, you will share my feeling of utter and complete satisfied relief when it is finally time to get rid of some of the products 😀 Well, here we are with another empties post, this time for my July Empties. There are some months when I finish a ton of products together and then there are some where I barely finish a bottle of anything. So in order to balance that out, I always pick a handful of products that I want to talk about each month. That way it doesn’t get too overwhelming to read about a ton of products all at once. Here’s to hoping you managed to empty a ton of awesome products yourself and also hoping you like my July empties.

July Empties: Mini Product Reviews

July Empties

The Good: July Empties
  • Batiste Dry Shampoo in Dark and Deep Brown
If you use the search bar on the top of my site and type in batiste, you’ll find all the posts where I have already talked and raved about this dry shampoo. Just to reiterate for any newcomers, this is hands down my favorite, holy grail, just cannot and will not live without dry shampoo. Since I am a brunette, my personal favorite is this brown tinted one. However, if I can’t find it in my stores for some reason, I’ll pick up the other versions they do and I love them all just as much. If I have the option between eating a bowl of Chipotle or buying a new Batiste dry shampoo, I’ll pick the latter. And that’s saying something considering this girl loves her Chipotle. I’ll link those posts here, here , here, here and here where I have talked about this dry shampoo.
Miscellaneous: Retails for anywhere between $6.99 to $8.99 depending on where you buy it from. Ulta is currently having a BOGO 50% off on Batiste.
  • Marc Anthony Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco
I don’t know about you guys, but I am a subscription box fanatic. In particular, I have always been loyal to Ipsy because no matter what products I receive, there will always be one brilliant discovery I’ll make from those products and that’s what makes the whole goodie bag totally worth it. Well, the Marc Anthony Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco is one of those beautiful discoveries I made from the goodies in one of my previous Ipsy bags. This is one of the best oil treatments I have ever tried. I am so confident that if you guys try it, you will love it too. On the days that I ran this product through my hair, I literally got compliments from everyone, even boys! And you know how hard it is to get men to notice anything new and different. And yet, without fail, someone always noticed that my hair looked smoother, straighter and healthier on the days I wore this. The beauty of this oil is that you can apply it to dry or damp hair and it will not weigh your hair down either way. I can attest to this because I have super fine hair which is limp and straight and thin. So I always have to be careful of the products I choose to put in my hair. The consistency of this is so perfect. It is not too dry like a dry oil would be, and not too wet like pure coconut oil would be. This sits right in the middle. I honestly have so many hair products in my arsenal right now that I cannot justify going out and getting this. But, as soon as I finish any one big bottle of hair product next month, I am going to treat myself to this oil treatment again. If you’d only pick out one thing from my July empties for yourself, pick this one.
Miscellaneous: As if this product wasn’t brilliant enough on its own, the price point is also amazing. It retails for $7.49 for 1.69 fl oz in Walgreens. If you think that the amount of product you get in the bottle is less, think again. My 0.7 fl oz sample size literally lasted me five months despite using it every time I washed my hair.
  • Patanjali Dant Kanti Dental Cream
Product Description: “From dental protection to dental beauty. This Dental cream is a marvellous product to protect the teeth. Akarkara and babul are the prime ingredients to protect the power of gums. Neem, Timbaru (Strychnos nux vomica or Diospyros), Turmeric and cloves provide great protection and remove bacteria. Pudin and pippali refresh the gums. Peelu and maju phal provide power to the gums. Thus it roots out all the dental problems like pioria, gingivitis, bad odour in gums if it is used everyday. Use it once, and then you wish to use it forever. Dosage and method of usage: Everyday use it twice, early in the morning and before going to bed with a light massage with brush on gums while brushing.”- Company Website

Okay, so a little background. Ever since I was little, my mum always kept only Ayurvedic toothpastes in our cabintes. Our entire family has been firm users of the Vicco vajradanti toothpaste. However, ever since I moved to the States a few years ago, I eventually ran out of the stock of Ayurvedic toothpaste mother had sent me. So for quite a while now I have been using the stock standard colgates and what not. However, I was introduced to this toothpaste by my lovely roommate who brought these back for us from when she went home to India back in December of last year. At first I was apprehensive to use the Ayurvedic dental cream because it had been years since I had used one. But as soon as I started using it, I knew I was going to love using it for my oral care. If you didn’t know, Ayurvedic toothpastes just have far better ingredients in them than any other toothpastes. The ingredients at the back of the tube are written in Hindi and translated into English but the translations use scientific nomenclature for the ingredients. However, since I can read Hindi, let me tell you that this has some of the best ingredients in it which are all plant based – Akarkara, Neem, Babool, Tomar or Timur (supposedly there are two spellings), Pudina (mint), Laung (cloves), Pippali, Vajradant, Bakul, Vidang, Haldi (turmeric), Peelu, and Maaju Phal.
If you love your green beauty and organic skincare products, try to incorporate this into your dental care routine.
Miscellaneous: If anyone you know is going to India, have them bring this back for you. Or this can also bought from Amazon for $4.45 which by the way is a complete rip off because if you buy this in India, it only costs you a dollar.

The Good: Non Beauty July Empties
  • Starbucks Via Instant Latte in Cafe Mocha
Coming back to the western world products, I absolutely love myself some of this Starbucks instant latte. You know how sometimes you wake up and realize there is not enough milk in the fridge for a cup of coffee and it just threatens to ruin your day? Well, this is a solution to that. This box contains 5 packets of the latte mix. All you gotta do is empty a packet in a cup and add hot water. This is the second or third time I am repurchasing this. My favorite is the cafe mocha flavor.
Miscellaneous: It retails for $6.00 at Walmart.
  • Bath and Body Works Three-Wick Candle in Mahogany Teakwood
I suck, and I mean absolutely suck at describing scents. So I hope you will forgive me if I ask you to just take my word for the fact that this candle smells absolutely divine. Now, this is most definitely a Fall/Winter scent. Since I kinda went crazy in BBW’s $8 candle sale last fall, I picked so many candles that by the time I was able to burn through all of them, it was already summer 😛 Anyway, the way I can describe this smell is .. if you went on a vacation in winter with your family, and stayed in a forest in a wood cabin with a fire crackling, leaves rustling, the dead pinecones rolling amidst all the rounds of toasted marshmallow and warm hot chocolates that your mum makes.. that feeling would be this candle.
Miscellaneous: Like I mentioned, I bought this for $8.00 when BBW were having a flash sale last year. Otherwise this retails for $22.00. Definitely wait for some kind of a deal.
The Bad: July Empties

July Empties

The last couple of my July empties are ones that I wasn’t too happy with.

  • Jouer Daily Repair Treatment Oil and Mitchell and Peach Fine Radiance Facial Oil
I have a post giving a full detailed review of these oils. If you want to skip reading the details, then I’ll tell you the base line. I did not like these face oils at all and would not repurchase. They might work for you and your skin type. Which is why, if you’d like to know the reasons I didn’t get along with these, read it in this post.

Alrighty guys! Much love and thanks to you if you made it all the way to the end of my July empties. Please tell me some of your empties. I am such a nosey person and I love watching, reading, viewing everyone’s monthly empties. I hope you have had a fabulous start to the month. I’ll see you soon for next week’s blog post.

Recycle those empties babes,

Much love,

neighha
