Drugstore Haircare Haul: August 2016
Hello loves! A very very good morning to you guys. I missed my usual #takemymoneytuesday haul post yesterday because well.. life happened. Life as a very very stressed engineering student. And I usually don’t let that get in the way of my hobby, but it was a choice between either missing writing my report or my blog post. I chose my day job over my hobby 😀 So, to make it up to you guys, here I am with a new post. It’s been a few months since I last bought any item of haircare. So today, I’m here with a drugstore haircare haul to show you guys some of things I’ve picked up recently haircare wise.
Drugstore Haircare Haul:
- Renpure Rosemary Mint Cleansing Conditioner
This product is what prompted this whole drugstore haircare haul. Okay, so you guys have probably heard of the whole ‘nopoo’ ‘cowash’ ‘cleansing conditioner’ fad right? Well, here I am dipping my toes into it. If you don’t know what this is, I’ll explain really quick. We all know that shampoos have a tendency to damage the hair; which is why it is best not to shampoo your hair everyday. And I gotta say, ever since I’ve started shampooing my hair only about two to three times a week, my hair has gotten better in health. Ever since I was a kid, I have always had this really fine, thin and limpy head of hair. As I’ve gotten more aware of the things to do and not to do to my hair, my hair has slowly but surely gotten fuller. And I can’t help but think that the reduced frequency of shampooing is to credit for it. So, I wanted to take it a step further and try the cleansing conditioner trend. A cleansing conditioner is basically what it sounds like- a nourishing, conditioning product that also cleanses your hair. You’re supposed to use this in place of a shampoo. By cutting out shampoo from your haircare life, you can really improve the health of your hair. You can google this to find some good articles that explain a little bit more about this nopoo trend. So, long explanation short, I bought the Renpure Rosemary Mint Cleansing Conditioner which I have read really good reviews about. A bottle of this usually costs anywhere between $7.00-$10.00 bucks each; however, I found this on sale at Walgreens one day where the two pack was for $10.00. So, being the savvy shopper that I am, I immediately jumped on that deal. I do wish that I could have bought one bottle each of different fragrances, but that wasn’t what the deal offered unfortunately. Anyway, so I’m hoping I can get on this cleansing conditioner bandwagon, and if I do, I’ll certainly update you guys about it.
Miscellaneous: Retails for $10.00 per bottle and can be found at many stores. The cheapest one I found was at Target if you were to buy it individually.
- Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Treatment
Next up in this drugstore haircare haul is the Aussie 3 minute miracle treatment. I know what you guys are thinking. If I just said I was going to try to do the cleansing conditioner thing, why did I buy a deep treatment? Well, the operative word here is ‘try’. I know myself, and even though I’ll probably love the cleansing conditioner, I might not be able to cut shampoo out of my life completely. And sometimes when you want to go out or have a really special occasion, the classic shampoo and deep conditioner duo will be a better choice I think. Since I didn’t have a good deep conditioner, I picked up the Aussie 3 minute miracle. This is one of those super raved about products which got a lot of positive buzz back in the day. Since I had never tried this, I figured it was time I checked out what the hype was all about. And it is super super affordable.
Miscellaneous: This retails for anywhere between $2.00-$4.00 depending on which store you purchase it from. It is available for cheap at Walmart.
- Nexxus Touchable Hold Finishing Mist
The last item in this drugstore haircare haul is the Nexxus Touchable Hold Finishing Mist. I rarely ever get along with classical old school hairsprays. So any time I style my hair, I need something that will hold it in place but will also not compromise on movement and non-crunchiness that I so desire from my haircare products. During one of my usual forages in CVS, I saw that they were having multiple deals on haircare and especially a lot of things from Nexxus. Now I kind of forgot how much I paid for it, but I do know I paid less than ten dollars. Even though Nexxus is sold at drugstores, it is a really well-known, quality product stockist of haircare. So I figured, why not give this finishing mist a try and see if I like it better than my traditional hairsprays. If this is able to hold my style in place without crunchiness, it will be a total win. And I do hope I like this because that is a giant freaking bottle.
Miscellaneous: I could only find the link for the travel size online. Maybe that’s a better idea actually. Rather than committing to the giant bottle, I should’ve bought the travel size. Oh well. It is available at Ulta for $2.99.
That is it my babes. Please let me know if you guys have tried any of these products. I would love to know what to expect. Also, I really never feel comfortable splurging on high end haircare. But, if you guys do have recommendations on any good high end products, then please please let me know. I would love to know some high end haircare products that are worth the price. As always, my favorite social media still remains Instagram so please come say namaste over there (username is @neighha). I have some exciting blog posts planned ahead, so I hope you’ll come back for more. Have a beautiful day ladies and as always ..
Stay stylish loves,
