Laneige Water Sleeping Mask: Review 2016

Since the past six to nine months, I’ve really taken the initial steps to start becoming serious about my skincare. Now quick disclaimer- it’s not like my skin has magically become that of a goddess. No. That’s not how it works. It’s a very gradual process. But, I’m  trying and testing stuff all the time, and each time I find a skincare hero that does good things for my skin, I’m keen to blog about it. Today’s post is about one such skincare item that is an absolute must have for everyone- The Laneige Water Sleeping Mask.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask:

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

  • Story time: This is not the actual look of the Laneige water sleeping mask. The one pictured above is actually a sample size. Funny story, I’d always heard good things about this mask, but I’d never really taken the effort to hunt this down. My local Target doesn’t have this in stock ever, and so I would’ve had to ship it to store and stuff. Too much trouble right? Well, co incidentally, one of the days when I was browsing the Ipsy website, I figured I’d use up the points that I had racked up and redeem them for something. You guessed it- I redeemed my points for this sample of the Laneige water sleeping mask. And boy am I glad I did! More reasons to follow.
  • What is a sleeping mask? Well, a sleeping mask is exactly what the name suggests- it’s like a moisturizing mask that you put on as the last step in your skin care regimen and go to seep with it. This particular one has a very liquid-gel like texture, so it is very comfortable to have on your skin and sleep with. It is a clear gel and absorbs relatively fast, so it won’t ruin or stain your sheets/pillows.
  • About this mask: There are probably a thousand reasons why I love this as much as I do. Let’s start with the fragrance. This product smells absolutely incredible. I’ve seen some reviews online about adding fragrance as an ingredient to any product is cause for a host of skin concerns such as inflammation, irritation etc. It might be true in most cases, but in this case -Bloody Bollocks. Let’s just say this. Sometimes science says something, and sometimes your skin says something else. This product is so incredibly soothing and calming on your skin, I think it would be almost impossible for anyone’s skin to be irritated by this (I’m exaggerating here-you very well know I can’t predict anyone’s skin, not even my own). This scores 10/10 for the smell for me.
Have you ever had a day when you wore a full face of makeup, cleansed, exfoliated etc. and/or your skin is just kind of mad at you for all the things you’ve been putting it through? Have you ever experienced that your skin is so uncomfortably dry, itchy, irritated and just needs a cold splash of water to soothe it? The Laneige Sleeping Mask is just that! It is the best solution I have ever found for irritated and sore skin that just needs some relaxation and hydration. It is literally like a cold splash of water on your face, except that it won’t run off- it’s going to stay on your face all night and work it’s magical little voodoo powers.  This product acts as a humectant- it soaks in moisture from the air and feeds it to your skin so that you wake up with the most gorgeous skin. I sound like a cheesy infomercial but I speak ze truth from ze heart.
For  me, there are three basic winning points – 1) The way this products feels when you put it on and how it soothes your skin especially if you’re a city chic with city-stressed skin. 2) The insane level of hydration this provides. 3) The best part, in the morning, when you see your skin, you can see visible signs of how it has plumped and literally boosted your skin over the course of the night. I’m one of those people who wakes up looking like an ugly zombie in the morning – this makes me look like a person who just drank from the fountain of youth. Notice the picture I’ve put up. It has a couple of pruny looking, almost on the verge of dying flowers. Now imagine your skin is like a pruny flower – by the time you wake up in the morning with this on your face, you’ll have skin as soft and fresh as a baby’s butt.
  • Price: Laneige wins it all, because they made a stellar product at the most affordable price point! This retails for only $22.00 for a big pot at Target.

Needless to say, I absolutely love this product and cannot wait to repurchase a full gigantic size. If you want to read about another skincare favorite review, visit this post.
