Eye Makeup Haul: May 2016

Hi hi hieee! So, if you checked out my last post, it was a drugstore makeup haul. But, it was a haul of all face and lip products. Today, I’m doing a second haul which is primarily going to be an eye makeup haul (with the exception of one lip liner). I have picked up some really raved about products and so I have very high hopes for these.

Eye Makeup Haul

Eye Makeup:
  • Ardell Demi Wispies
So you know when you put the maximum effort you can into your eyeshadow and it still doesn’t look quite right? Well, lashes change the whole entire look and elevate it to another level. Then again, I don’t have to tell you why false eyelashes are awesome! Before now, I have never really felt the need to buy false lashes. When you’re in school, there’s never really an occasion to put on false eyelashes for the most part. At least for me, my average week consists of only school, lab and home. Long story short, I have been wanting to get a pack of lashes for those special occasions or just a glam night out when I want to really amp it up. If you are looking for a drugstore option, Ardell Demi Wispies are possibly the most highly rated and reviewed eyelashes out there. If you take good care of your lashes, you can even reuse these more than just once. This pack of four should last me a while.
Miscellaneous: You can find this at CVS for $11.99. Expensive, but like I said, these should last me quite a bit.
  • L’Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner
I picked this one up all on my own. I have had good experiences with the entire infallible range of L’Oreal. And I have always been a liquid liner kind of person. I think the one and only time in my life when I tried out gel liner was when I was maybe 15. And I didn’t know jack about makeup then. So I decided to step out of my liner rut and start using gel liner again. Which is why I picked this one up from L’Oreal.
Miscellaneous: Find this at CVS for $9.99. Again, L’Oreal is one of those brands that is always on some kind sale at CVS so look out for that.
  • L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer
I am one of those people now who can go completely bare faced, but I HAVE to always fill in my brows no matter what. It is one of the key steps to my eye makeup routine. Having said this, you’d be surprised to know that I haven’t actually tried the ever so famous Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz yet. Reason being, when this L’Oreal brow pencil came out everyone said this is an exact dupe, if not better than the ABH one and a one of a kind option from the drugstore. So, I’ve decided to give this a go first and see how I like it. If I don’t end up liking it, only then I’ll go ahead and splurge on the Anastasia one.
Miscellaneous: Find it at CVS for $8.99.
  • NYX Dark Circle Concealer in Medium
So you know how color correcting is like the new trend in the makeup world these days? I always thought it was more of a professional makeup artist’s forte. However, everywhere you go they’ve now made color correcting and related products more accessible to all of us. I have pigmentation issues in certain areas of my face and I have mildly dark under eyes (imo). So, in order to be able to get an even skin tone and complexion and have my bases like foundation etc look flawless, I have decided to dive into color correcting. Naturally the first place I looked is at the drugstore. I have heard a few people talk about this NYX dark circle corrector and so I decided to pick this up. It’s a peachy-orange corrector and I picked up the shade medium; as far as I could find in store and online, they don’t have a darker shade than this. Let me rephrase, they do have a darker version but it looks more like a brown pigment than an actual orange correcting shade. Anyway, I have already tried this once and I can tell that the shade I have is just not darkly orange enough for me and on first impressions, I am not too pleased with the performance of this product. This will most likely work on skin tones lighter than mine.
Miscellaneous: It retails for $6.00 on the NYX website.
  • NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk
I have two products in this haul which I’ve given test runs to and which I can say are changing my eye makeup game. This is one of them. This jumbo pencil by NYX is a white eyeshadow pencil. It’s meant to be used as a base before you put on all other eyeshadows. What that does is it makes your eyeshadows more pigmented and help them pop on your eyelid. For someone of my deep skin tone, it can sometimes be very difficult for me to get my eyeshadow, especially my crease and transition colors to stand out. This pencil just neutralizes most of the darkness on my eyelids and gives me a very even canvas to work with. My eyeshadows just look so much better and more poppin’ if you will. Btw, they have a gazillion more colors if you want some colored bases. Highly highly recommend that you check this out.
Miscellaneous: It retails for $4.50 on the NYX website.
  • L’Oreal Infallible 24 HR Eyeshadow
I cannot even begin to tell you how good these individual shadows from L’Oreal are. First of all, the shades in this range are gorgeous. Second, their shimmer shades are just so exquisite! Most of them have amazing color payoff and look incredible on the eyes. Almost every notable beauty influencer has raved about these once in their lifetime. These really are a gem in drugstore eye makeup. The one thing I need to test and report back is on the longevity of these shadows. I’m going to wear and try these out for the next couple of weeks and then maybe do a post. I got the shades Iced Mocha and Eternal black.
Miscellaneous: These retail for $8.29 at the drugstore.
  • The Balm Schwing Eyeliner
This is the one exception product of the haul which is not from the drugstore. Okay, so I have been wanting to do a post on my favorite best of the best eyeliners for a while now. I had heard so many good things about this eyeliner so I decided to try it. I was actually hoping it would turn out to be a terrible eyeliner, so I could do a comparison of it vs a drugstore option. So far in my life, I have never needed to buy high end eyeliner; I have always believed that eyeliners look the same once on your eye and no one can tell if it’s designer or drugstore. But when I picked this out, I immediately came home and tried it. And OH MY GOD. This is product number 2. which has changed my eye makeup game completely! I haven’t used any other liner since I picked this up about two weeks ago. If you are the kind of person who likes a winged eyeliner – if you’re a pro, if you’re an amateur, if you’ve always wanted to try but didn’t know how, trust me, just pick this liner up! It will give your eyeliner a whole new look. It is so so black and matte. The two best qualities that make this eyeliner stand out are a. the shape of the tip and b. the longevity. The tip is like a hybrid- it has the sturdiness of a felt tip but has the softness of a brush tip. I cannot put this into words. You just have to check this out. And it stays on my eyes the entire freaking day! I LOVE YOU.
Miscellaneous: It has a hefty price point for an eyeliner at $17.00. I bought mine at Kohl’s.
  • Maybelline Master Precise Skinny Eyeliner
I don’t have much to talk about this product. Like I said earlier, I have been wanting to narrow in on my favorite eyeliners of all time and this new one by Maybelline got a lot of positive buzz when it launched. It’s supposed to be a very skinny liner, hence allowing for more precise application. Whether this ends up as one of my eye makeup heros is yet to be seen.
Miscellaneous: Retails for $7.99 at the drugstore.
  • Revlon Colorstay Lip Liner in Chocolate
The last item in this haul is not part of the eye makeup section, but is a lip liner that I picked up along with some of the items mentioned above. I wanted a brownish lip liner from the drugstore because if I don’t end up finding good lip liners at the drugstore I will revert back to buying more MAC lip liners and that’s going to be one heck of an expensive ordeal. The one good thing about these Revlon lip liners is that there is a really huge selection of colors to choose from. The rest, I will have to test and report back.
Miscellaneous: Retails for $8.79 at CVS.

Forgive me for the recent slew of hauls. A lot of these items I will end up returning if they don’t perform as well as I’m expecting. I don’t want to have anything in my eye makeup or even makeup collection in general that I don’t absolutely love . And so I’m doing my best to test and test everything more and more.

Stay beautiful loves,
