Empties: Part 1 March 2016

Hello guys! Lets get you that second empties post I promised you in my last empties post. I have a few more beauty/skincare empties that I want to talk to you about and some of these are ones that I am insanely in love with.

Left to Right: Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer, Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub, Acure Brightening Facial Scrub, Naobay Oxygenating Cream, Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Conditioner, Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Body Lotion, Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster.

*I have already spoken to you guys about the eyeliner featured in this picture in my previous post*.

  • Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer
I am beginning this post on a high note. This is my ABSOLUTE favorite daytime moisturizer. Considering that I’m an aspiring product reviewer/beauty blogger, this is a huge claim. Even though I know I will try many moisturizers and facial creams in the years to come, I probably won’t love anything as much as I love this. Now, I admit I haven’t tried those ultra-luxury $250+ moisturizers and what not which may deliver fabulous results (I’m a skeptic) . But honestly, what’s the point? I love this one for everything that it does and I don’t need those ridiculously expensive ones. Okay, so about this moisturizer now. If you saw my skin, you’ll know I have quite the problematic skin. One of my biggest problems being uneven skintone/dark spots/hyperpigmentation etc. I kid you not, this moistruizer changed my face for the few weeks that I used it. I had friends telling me that my skin looked better and in fact, that I, as a person, looked better and happier. Many thought that this was due to my new relationship. I honestly think it’s the moisturizer hahahaha. No but seriously, if you want something that actually brightens your face, try this. I’m only hoping that my skin hasn’t gotten used to this product; because if it has, it won’t be as effective for me when I repurchase this again. The best part is that this gem of a product is not very expensive at all.
Miscellaneous: Price point is $27.00 on Sephora.
  • Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub
I have another holy grail product right here. Now, I’m going to give a disclaimer in the very beginning- I am not a DIY kind of a person. I really despise having to make things myself and I really prefer buying everything instead of making them at home (for the most part). So, I know that when I put this scrub as a favorite, many of you will be like, well why don’t you just make one at home and it works just as well? Now you know. With that said, this scrub is absolutely amazing. This is the first proper lip scrub I’ve ever used and I literally am craving for another one. It is so nice and properly abrasive, it literally removes every ounce of dead skin you might have on your lips. And trust me, when it’s winter and your lips and skin are flaking left right and center, you need a product like this to save your lips. Another big win for me was the fact that my lips looked much healthier, and even pinker when I scrubbed them with this. Now, if you don’t have dark pigmented lips then you won’t understand this struggle. But, I have a lot of melanin pigmentation on my lips (just genetics and race factors I guess) and this scrub helped to take off all the top pigmented layers to reveal bright healthy lips. I am obsessed. Obsessed is an understatement.  I am definitely repurchasing this. No doubt. Oh, and I completely forgot to mention that the flavor is literally like bubblegum! Yuuuuummm.
Miscellaneous: Price point is $8.00. Not bad at all considering this scrub lasted me for a year. You only need little each time you use it and I scrubbed my lips as and when I needed.
  • Acure Brightening Facial Scrub
If you know about recent laws related to beauty, then you’ll know that those traditional micro-beads we find in exfoliators and scrubs are now banned in the United States because of the amount of toxic waste they generate. Therefore, companies have to find new ways to design their exfoliators and ones that do not rely in those beads for exfoliation. This Acure scrub is one of them. The texture is literally as if it is a pulp of plant that has been ground and mashed together and is rough enough to give you a good exfoliation. I really liked using this scrub. It’s green in color and has that natural ‘planty’ smell. It’s not a bad smell by any means. However, I probably won’t repurchase this again because apart from it’s good exfoliating texture I didn’t find that it did anything special for my skin.
Miscellaneous: Price point is $9.99 at Target. I got this sample size as one of the goodies in an Ipsy bag.
  • Naobay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizer
We started with some good products, and now we’re making our way onto some not-so good ones. I got this moisturizer as a product in one of my Ipsy bags. I’m always happy to receive facial moisturizers or even moisturizers in general because I think you can’t have enough of them. However, I did not like this cream whatsoever. First of all, this product feels too sticky on the face. It doesn’t sit well at all, doesn’t absorb into the skin and this would be an absolute nightmare-even more so for oily skins. Even if you have super dry skin, I wouldn’t recommend this. It just makes the skin look greasy. It’s not that terrible to the point where you just want to throw away the sample, I definitely did finish this up. But I would not purchase the full size of it.
Miscellaneous: It retails for $36.00 on the Birchbox website. Complete rip off.
  • Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Conditioner
Peter Thomas Roth is not exactly an affordable line. Hence, if I buy anything from them, I would make sure to do my research or get a sample to try out first. Well, I got this sample in an Ipsy bag and so I got a chance to try this product out. This hair conditioner does nothing-absolutely literally nothing. It’s just like you put an extra layer on your hair and added an extra few minutes into your shower routine for no reason at all. I just honestly have nothing else to say. I have found so many better hair conditioners/masks/oils that work much better to hydrate and condition my strands. I won’t be purchasing a full size of this. Nope. Nada.
Miscellaneous: Retails for $18.00 on Sephora.com
  • Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Body Lotion
Again, I will copy paste the first few lines of the intro I just gave about the PTR brand. I usually like their skincare stuff, but I guess their haircare and bodycare stuff isn’t really what they’re known for (and with good reason IMO). This body-lotion was just meh. It was nice enough to put onto your skin but I felt like it didn’t really do anything-it didn’t hydrate or moisturize or soothe my parched skin. It was wasn’t thick and luxurious like a body butter and it was quite thin even for a body lotion. I do like thin lotions, but I still expect that they do something for my skin. Another negative is that this has no scent whatsoever. Now, I am a big fan of scented body lotions because I love how my skin smells throughout the day when I put a nice lotion on. I have many amazing smelling body lotions from Bath and Body Works that I love, so I don’t really see the point of using this product.
Miscellaneous: Price is $18.00 on the Sephora website.
  • Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster
Just like I started this post on a high note, I’m going to end on one. I am so excited that I finished up this product because I’ve been wanting to feature this product on my blog for the longest time now. If you haven’t tried this serum, you need to go out and get it. No matter what skin type, what budget, what skin issues you have, this serum will work for everyone. I mean everyone. I say this with the utmost confidence. The vitamin C in this serum actually helped make my skin brighter. So this, along with the Origins moisturizer is a dream combination. It will help brighten your skin without a shadow of doubt.  I am a college student-this means that on most days I rush out of the house for my morning classes and I usually have less than five minutes to do my skincare. It absorbs into your skin so well and so quick. This product is one that I always turn to. You should always put on Vitamin C during the day. So I use this serum on a daily basis, and when I’m low on time, this product is a savior because it absorbs into the skin so fast it’s magical. And it so non-greasy yet so hydrating that sometimes I can even skip moisturizer if I’m running super late. I’m already on the second bottle of this magic potion as I’m writing this post. My skin is literally addicted to this and I’m just going to keep pouring my money into this time and again.
Miscellaneous: Price point is $48.00 for 1 oz. bottle. Go and get it. Trust me. I even sent this to my mum in India.

Well, it’s 10 pm on a Saturday night. I’m going to end this here and go Netflix and Chill. Happy weekend loves!
