…destination beautiful…

A Day in the City

When you’ve stayed in Texas for quite a number of years, the summer heat in other places ceases to bother you. Nevertheless, it was a hot day in New York City and I had to plan my outfit and makeup accordingly. You must be thinking, who in the world wears jeans on a hot sunny day. I’ll tell you why. Firstly, I had to pick something that I could transition from day to night, because my family and I were going to be sightseeing the city all day. Secondly, I brought a very limited number of outfits so that I could fit them all in my carry on luggage. So here’s the final outcome.

Top: Forever 21
Jeans: Hollister
Bralette: Charlotte Russe

The top is very simple, but there’s a touch of interest to it due to the little bobbles that are on the edges. These distressed jeans are my absolute favorite. They are so comfortable even though they are the skinny fit. The one thing I really like about Hollister jeans is their method of sizing. I love how they have three height sizes for each waist. The one down side to these is that Hollister has a very limited style/range of jeans. This is probably why I sort of prefer American Eagle jeans more, and they are pretty much the same price. If I could do one thing different in this outfit, it would be the shoes. Don’t get me wrong, I love the shoes, however, I would have preferred wedges. Like I said, luggage constraints and common sense told me to pack only one pair of comfy walkable shoes.

Necklaces: Forever 21

Watch: American Eagle
Shoes: Forever 21

My favorite part about this entire look is the statement necklace. In fact what I’m wearing is just one layer of the necklace. I gave the second layer for my sister to wear (pictured above). The beauty of this gorgeous necklace is that you can wear both the layers for the full effect, or you can wear any one layer and tone down the bling as you please. Another thing that I think really brightens up the outfit is the lipstick. I’m currently loving these Ofra liquid lipsticks. They have the most incredible longevity- I kid you not, I was in city for 8 hours straight, ate and drank a bunch of stuff and by the end of the night, my lipstick was still looking fresh. Un-freakin-believeable.

Lips- Ofra Long lasting liquid lipstick in Santa Monica
Eyes- Pacifica Natural Mineral Eyeshadow in Treasure
Eyeliner: Maybelline Master Drama
Mascara: Maybelline The Falsies

Giving a shot at my first fashion post. I will always be more of a makeup enthusiast, but it doesn’t hurt to switch things up once in a while :*

Stay Beautiful,
